2024 was a year filled with artistic endeavors and town spirit and support. The Arts Council of Glen Rock celebrated its fifth year with high-quality art programs and events for the Glen Rock community.
Here’s a recap.
Think Tank for Creatives started the year off by helping artists discuss and learn important business tips and strategies for profitably presenting their works to the public. (January)
Arts Materials Swap – was a first-time event for Arts Council, and quite successful. The public donated usable art materials for others to purchase. Money raised went to the Arts Council’s Scholarship Fund. (March)
The 5th Annual Short Films Festival, in conjunction with the Thomas Edison Film Festival, presented a variety of award-winning, independent films. (March)
Glen Rock teen artists helped all to celebrate Earth Day by creating impactful banners that lined a portion of Rock Road in April. (April)
“Verse and Visuals” teamed up local poets and artists in an eye-catching and thought-provoking exhibition at the Glen Rock Public Library to honor National Poetry Month. (April)
A record 42 Glen Rock storefront windows were a palette for volunteer artists to beautify our downtown, our 4th year of offering “Rock Road in Bloom.” (late April/early May)
A one-day collage experience was held in celebration of World Collage Day. (May)
The Arts Council provided 4 scholarships and 8 grants totaling a combined$4,000 to high school seniors and adult artists. (June)
Arts Council members participated in the annual 4th of July Parade, capping off the town celebration with a Flash Mob dance. (July)
A record number of artists, artisans, creatives and talented musical groups provided Glen Rock with a full day of experiences at the 5th annual Arts Fest. (September)
Reprised “Enchanted” outdoor theater geared to our littlest children and their adults at the Thielke Arboretum, in conjunction with Porch Light Productions, for the third year. This event introduced the beauty of the Arboretum to young families as the Youth Performance Troupe thespians entertained them. (October)
Open Studio and Plein Air drawing and painting events took place at the Glen Rock Public Library, outdoors, and at the Glen Rock Historical and Preservation Society as part of monthly Focus on the Artist activities. (All year)
Arts Council of Glen Rock is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Its purpose is to promote, support, and celebrate all forms of the arts.
