A Message in Response to Tree Removals at Faber Field

The Borough has received a number of inquiries from concerned residents about the health of the trees in front of Lower Faber turf field on Doremus Avenue. The Borough is fortunate to have within the Department of Public Works a Licensed Tree Care Operator (LTCO), who can perform a wide range of tree care services including tree pruning, removal, stump grinding and brush cutting or removal. The trees in question were inspected, and it was determined to be a public safety hazard. Some of the conditions of the trees include trunk decay, root gurgling, cracked limbs, carpenter ants, exposed and damaged roots and dead tree limbs. Again, the Borough is fortunate not only to have someone that can make that determination, but to lead a crew to complete the removal. Replacement trees will be evaluated for best fit in that location, and replaced at the appropriate time.

The 2025 street tree planting program is expected to begin in mid-June as per the recently awarded contract. The Borough of Glen Rock is committed to continuing our long standing designation as a Tree City USA, and are planting 50 new shade trees this spring season.
