The recent rains we’ve been experiencing have caused unprecedented flooding throughout town in areas that have never flooded before. The borough has been engaging with internal staff and professionals to work on solutions.
A potential nor’easter bringing heavy rain and strong winds may affect our area as we head into the weekend, so we wanted to share some important flood safety reminders.
Flooding can affect our homes, roads, and neighborhoods with little warning. Never walk, swim, or drive through floodwaters—water can be deeper and faster-moving than it appears and may hide dangerous debris or other hazards. Please check on neighbors who may need extra assistance, and remember: Turn Around, Don’t Drown! You can find more flood related information here: https://www.ready.gov/floods
September is also National Preparedness Month, so we encourage you to take time to prepare for disasters and emergencies. Additional resources can also be found here: https://www.ready.gov/plan
